The refusal to use "Philadelphia" in the name tells you a *lot* about the relationship between Philly and its burbs in the 60s.

What mechanism determines who serves on the 18 member board outside of the PA/NJ governors appointments?
Alison Hastings
01:00:31
The mechanism is each state's bills that passed the legislation that created DVRPC. The 12 local governments that were ID'd in the bills each have a "seat" to fill. Determined by the highest elected official of that govt.
Benjamin Saracco
01:00:48
Thanks!
Alison Hastings
01:01:57
I think in 11 or the 12 local govts seats are filled by an elected official at that level of government. County Commissioner, Mayor, City Councilmember. They appoint alternates that are usually professional staff to vote in their stead.

DVRPC recently published a report called “Equity Through Access: Gaps and Bridges”. It is an update to the region’s coordinated human services transportation plan. It states that there are 14 free shuttle services in Princeton and 4 in Philadelphia that cost $2.50. This seems incredibly un-balanced. Are these resources that inequitable?
Yi, DVRPC
01:21:22

Michael and Alison: that info should be in the shuttle data section. I helped run the outreach for that process and we heard from many riders in Philly that the cost is very restrictive.

This sounds great! I'm curious how this will affect land use and zoning in New Jersey. I'm assuming Camden has more areas zoned for industrial use than whiter/wealthier parts of the state -- if industry can't renew permits - where will those businesses relocate to? Will Camden be able to re-zone anytime soon?
Loretta Kelly

I would like to volunteer to drop off/pick up someone's ballot for them if they are not able to do so. Does anyone know how/if I can do that? It would need to be within Philadelphia accessible by public transportation.

In NJ, there's not the same type of land use law, but it's extremely difficult to change zoning because of the possibility of decreasing property values.
