Regional Safety Task Force / Information Resources Exchange Group Meeting
Please join us for the next Regional Safety Task Force meeting, which will be hosted jointly with DVRPC’s Information Resources Exchange Group (IREG). IREG provides a forum to discuss the creation, use, and exchange of planning-related information in the Delaware Valley region. This meeting will be dedicated to bicycle and other micromobility safety. Continuing our focus on the Safe Systems approach to road safety, this meeting will focus on a Safe System Approach principle, “Safety is Proactive,” by exploring innovative approaches to evaluating safety for vulnerable road users, especially those on micromobility devices.

We are pleased to welcome the following panelists to present on innovative proactive safety practices:

Wenwen Zhang, Rutgers University
Wenwen is an Assistant Professor in Informatics at the Bloustein School and is part of the Rutgers Making Micromobility Smarter and Safer team. Wenwen received her Ph.D. from Georgia Tech’s School of City and Regional Planning in 2017. She also earned a Masters in City Planning, Civil Engineering, and Computational Science & Engineering from Georgia Tech. Her research focuses on leveraging open, big data, data science techniques and data visualization tools to address critical planning issues.

Sean Connelly, Noroc
Sean is an avid cyclist and the founder and CEO of Noroc, a company whose mission is to increase road safety with their ephemeral Proximity as a Service (ePaaS) platform.

After the presentations and Q&A, RSTF/IREG members will break into groups to discuss advancing proactive safety strategies in the region.
